MTN
Eswatini has emphasized the importance of leveraging digital innovation to
improve access to equitable healthcare services, as stakeholders gathered for
the first day of the Digital Health Solutions Fair under the theme “Expand
Equitable Health for Every Community.”
The
event brought together 75 students who engaged with real-world public health
challenges, including discussions on national blood bank systems and broader
healthcare delivery issues. The initiative aimed to encourage young innovators
to develop practical solutions to pressing health sector needs.
Speakers
from the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology, including
Principal Secretary Mr. Andreas Dlamini, joined public health expert Dr.
Sibusiso Mavuso, as well as representatives from MTN’s Risk & Compliance
and Internal Audit and Forensic Services teams, to contribute to discussions on
strengthening healthcare systems through responsible digital transformation.
Participants
stressed that innovation in the health sector must go beyond technical
advancement to include accountability, trust, and a strong sense of social
responsibility. Stakeholders also highlighted the need for solutions that are
both inclusive and sustainable in addressing healthcare gaps across
communities.
Organisers
said the discussions reinforced a shared commitment to ensuring that digital
health innovations are designed with people at the centre, with a focus on
expanding access and improving outcomes across Eswatini’s healthcare system.
