Eswatini’s Minister of Information, Communication and Technology has hailed a recent TikTok Content Creators Workshop as a landmark engagement signalling a new chapter for the country’s creator economy.

Minister Savannah Maziya said the workshop, held in partnership with TikTok, provided a platform to educate emaSwati on opportunities available within the global digital economy.

Describing content creators, innovators, and digital storytellers as the nation’s treasure, Maziya said the workshop was only the beginning of efforts to create an enabling environment where Eswatini’s digital talent can thrive and compete globally.

While acknowledging that the country has not yet reached full monetisation and payment opportunities, the minister noted that progress made thus far should not be taken lightly, adding that many countries across the continent do not yet enjoy similar opportunities.

She urged content creators to remain patient, stating that the finish line is drawing closer and that the government remains committed to ensuring no aspiring creator is left behind.
