MTN South Africa has
announced plans to invest R332 million in network infrastructure across Limpopo
Province during 2026 as part of its efforts to improve connectivity and
accelerate digital inclusion.
The announcement follows a
multi-stakeholder engagement visit to Limpopo led by MTN South Africa Deputy
Chief Executive Officer Yolanda Cuba and members of the company's executive
team.
During the visit, the
delegation held discussions with Limpopo MEC for Health Dieketseng Masesi
Mashego and the Executive Mayor of the City of Polokwane, Councillor John Mpe,
to strengthen collaboration on initiatives that support digital inclusion and socio-economic
development in the province.
The planned investment will
be used to expand 5G coverage, modernise network infrastructure, and enhance
connectivity for businesses, communities, and public institutions across
Limpopo.
MTN said the investment
forms part of its broader strategy to improve digital access and support South
Africa's digital transformation agenda through continued infrastructure
development.
In addition to network
expansion, the MTN South Africa Foundation will continue implementing
programmes focused on education, digital inclusion, and youth skills
development to help create opportunities for local communities.
The company said the
combination of infrastructure investment and community development initiatives
reflects its commitment to connecting more people, supporting economic growth,
and contributing to a more inclusive digital future in South Africa.
