Senegal’s Minister of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs has held discussions with Oumou Group on
enhance collaboration between the government and the private sector to
accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
The minister visited Oumou
Group as part of engagements with key players in Senegal’s digital ecosystem.
The visit provided an opportunity to recognise the group’s contribution to the
development of the digital private sector and explore areas of potential
cooperation with the government.
Oumou Group, which operates
in nine African countries, presented its ambition to build an African
technology champion while strengthening its presence in Senegal in line with
the objectives of the New Technological Deal.
A major focus of the
discussions was the group’s vision for GovTech and the development of a “Gov
Stack” comprising digital solutions and services designed to support the
modernisation and transformation of public administration.
The engagement also examined
the establishment of a stronger framework for public-private cooperation, as
well as issues surrounding public digital infrastructure and some of the major
challenges facing Senegal’s digital sector.
The ministry emphasised the
importance of closer collaboration with private-sector players, particularly in
driving innovation, attracting investment and creating employment opportunities
for young Senegalese.
The minister commended Oumou
Group for its progress and growing position within Africa’s digital ecosystem,
while reaffirming the ministry’s readiness to support relevant initiatives and
maintain dialogue with private-sector stakeholders.
The engagement forms part of
Senegal’s broader efforts to implement the New Technological Deal and the
Senegal 2050 agenda by leveraging partnerships with technology companies and
other private-sector actors to build a more competitive and digitally enabled
economy.
