The Communications
Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) and NORED have signed a five-year
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster cooperation in advancing digital
connectivity, rural development and integrated infrastructure planning across
Namibia.
The partnership is expected
to improve coordination between communications and electricity infrastructure,
supporting the expansion of broadband access and creating greater digital
opportunities, particularly for communities in underserved areas.
The agreement brings
together the two institutions around a more coordinated approach to
infrastructure development, with the aim of supporting Namibia’s broader
digital transformation and rural development objectives.
Through strengthened
collaboration and integrated planning, CRAN and NORED seek to improve the
deployment of infrastructure and help address connectivity gaps in communities
that remain underserved.
The five-year partnership is
expected to provide a framework for continued cooperation between the
communications and electricity sectors as Namibia works to expand access to
digital services and strengthen the infrastructure supporting the country’s digital
economy.
