Senegal’s National Agency of
Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) is sharing its experience in certifying
and validating foreign aeronautical training organisations at a regional
workshop organised by the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)
Commission in Abidjan.
The workshop, running from
August 31 to September 4, 2026, is being held as part of the 2026 activity
programme of the Regional Civil Aviation Safety and Security Supervision Unit
(URSAC) and brings together Personnel Licensing Inspectors and Experts (PEL)
from across the WAEMU region.
The main objective is to
strengthen the knowledge, technical skills and professional competencies of PEL
inspectors and technical managers involved in the certification and validation
of Foreign Aeronautical Training Organisations.
The workshop also provides a
platform for civil aviation authorities in the region to exchange practical
experiences and good practices, supporting greater harmonisation and stronger
aviation safety oversight across the WAEMU area.
Participants include PEL
inspectors and technical managers from all eight WAEMU member states.
Senegal, represented by
ANACIM, was selected alongside Côte d’Ivoire and Togo to present practical
cases involving the certification and validation of aeronautical training
organisations.
The Senegalese delegation
comprises Aliou Dia, Senior PEL Inspector and Head of the Aeronautical
Personnel Licensing Department; Adji Awa Touré Sarr, PEL Technical Executive;
and Thierno Ousmane Diop, PEL Technical Executive.
Through its participation,
ANACIM is contributing Senegalese technical experience to regional efforts to
improve the consistency and effectiveness of aeronautical training organisation
certification and oversight.
The workshop is expected to
strengthen regional cooperation and professional capacity while supporting the
harmonisation of civil aviation safety and security supervision among WAEMU
member states.
