Rwanda is strengthening
cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to advance
its artificial intelligence and digital transformation agenda, with discussions
focused on aligning ongoing and proposed areas of collaboration to support the
growth of the country’s digital economy.
Minister of ICT and
Innovation Paula Ingabire held the discussions with Asano Seizaburo, JICA’s
newly appointed Senior Director in charge of the East Africa Division, and his
delegation.
The meeting examined
opportunities to deepen collaboration in artificial intelligence and digital
transformation as Rwanda continues efforts to build a strong, innovative and
competitive digital economy.
Discussions centred on
aligning existing and proposed areas of cooperation with Rwanda’s national
priorities, with a focus on initiatives capable of strengthening digital
capabilities and supporting innovation.
The engagement underscores
the importance of international partnerships in supporting Rwanda’s ambitions
to expand its digital economy and leverage emerging technologies such as AI to
drive development.
Rwanda and JICA are expected
to continue discussions on practical areas where the partnership can contribute
to the country’s digital transformation objectives and strengthen its capacity
to develop and adopt innovative digital solutions.
