Côte d’Ivoire is seeking to
move its artificial intelligence agenda from ambition to large-scale
implementation, with the government calling for AI projects to translate into
investment, economic development and tangible benefits for citizens.
Prime Minister Robert Beugré
Mambé made the call at the official opening of the second edition of IMPACT AI
2026 in Abidjan.
Mambé said the government
wants the conference to mark a new phase in the country’s AI development, in
which ambitions lead to projects, projects attract investment and investments
generate measurable results for the population.
“I hope that this second
edition will mark a new stage, one where ambitions become projects, where
projects become investments and where investments produce visible results for
our populations,” he said.
The Prime Minister also
commended Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation Djibril
Ouattara, his cabinet and stakeholders involved in advancing Côte d’Ivoire’s AI
initiatives from experimentation towards large-scale deployment.
The opening ceremony was
followed by a visit to exhibition stands showcasing technological solutions and
innovations developed by players in the country’s growing AI ecosystem.
The government’s approach
focuses on translating artificial intelligence from a technology priority into
practical applications capable of supporting public services, economic activity
and national development.
IMPACT AI 2026 is therefore
providing a platform for government, technology companies, researchers and
other stakeholders to demonstrate solutions and explore ways to accelerate the
deployment of AI across Côte d’Ivoire.
The government said the
overarching objective is to convert the country’s growing AI capabilities and
potential into concrete solutions that improve the lives of citizens and
contribute to Côte d’Ivoire’s economic development.
