Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and
Innovation, Paula Ingabire, has highlighted the country’s ambitions in
artificial intelligence and the importance of international partnerships in
ensuring that AI contributes to inclusive development.
Ingabire made the remarks in
Washington, D.C., during a discussion at the Atlantic Council focused on
Rwanda’s AI ambitions, its leadership as Chair of the AI for Good Commission
and the role of partnerships in advancing technology-driven development.
The discussion examined the
importance of connecting Rwanda’s ambitions in artificial intelligence with
collaboration among governments, institutions and other stakeholders.
Ingabire highlighted the
need for partnerships to ensure that AI development translates into
opportunities and delivers meaningful benefits for communities.
Rwanda has increasingly
positioned artificial intelligence as part of its broader digital
transformation agenda, with the country seeking to build an ecosystem capable
of supporting innovation and the practical application of emerging
technologies.
