The 20th edition of GovTech
has officially opened in Durban, bringing together government representatives,
industry leaders, innovators, ICT experts and other stakeholders to advance
South Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
GovTech 2026 is being held
under the theme, “Building Towards Digital Sovereignty: South Africa as
Architect of its Digital Destiny for Citizens.”
The event provides a
platform for government, the private sector and technology stakeholders to
engage on issues surrounding South Africa’s digital transformation and the
development of a more digitally capable public sector.
The focus on digital
sovereignty places emphasis on South Africa’s role in shaping its own digital
future and developing systems and capabilities that can serve the needs of its
citizens.
The 20th edition of GovTech
brings together stakeholders from across government and the technology
ecosystem to exchange ideas, showcase innovation and discuss approaches to
advancing digital transformation in the country.
The event is expected to
provide opportunities for collaboration between government, industry and
innovators as South Africa continues efforts to strengthen its digital
capabilities and deliver technology-enabled services to citizens.
