Absa Group Chief Executive for Personal and Private Banking, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, has emphasised the importance of innovation, investment, partnerships, and economic growth during his visit to the East African markets of Tanzania and Kenya.
Reflecting on his week in
Tanzania and Kenya, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit described both countries as being at the
“heart beat of innovation, economic growth, investment, partnerships, Private
and Public acceleration.”
In Tanzania, he highlighted
the country’s mobile money ecosystem and pointed to the growth of NBC Tanzania
and Absa Bank Tanzania as part of the market’s economic development.
“Tanzania- the most
innovative mobile money ecosystem in the world!” he said, while describing NBC
Tanzania and Absa Bank Tanzania as “incredible organizations with accelerated
growth and helping drive economic prosperity in the country!”
Lopokoiyit also highlighted
Kenya’s technology and financial services ecosystem, referring to the country
as “Silicon Savana” and pointing to M-PESA and Absa Bank Kenya’s launch of ABSA
NEXT.
He also referenced an
investment by Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals, describing it as “the
largest investment by an African company in Africa” and noting the “Close to
$16B investment in the oil refinery in Lamu, Kenya!”
Lopokoiyit said Absa Group
is playing a role as a pan-African bank by connecting clients to opportunities,
unlocking capital and supporting sustainable growth across the markets it
serves.
“Africa is rising! And Absa
Group is playing its role as a pan-African bank in connecting clients to
opportunities, unlocking capital and supporting sustainable growth across the
markets we serve,” he said.
He added that the group is
focused on “Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together! one story at a time!”
