Kenya’s president William Ruto has expressed
optimism about the setting up of Iran House of Innovation in Nairobi during his
remarks at the State House, Nairobi following holding talks with the President
of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi.
According to him the presence of the
technology center in the country will help boost Kenyan and Iranian businesses,
adding that Kenya will also use the West Asian country’s wealth in technology
and innovation for its development.

The Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi is in
Kenya with a delegation made up of senior government officials and business
leaders as part of a three-day African tour aimed at reducing the Islamic
republic’s isolation by forging new alliances.
During their meeting, Dr. Ruto and Dr. Raisi
witnessed the signing of new MoUs and agreements in the areas of agriculture,
livestock, culture and heritage, information, ICT, fisheries, housing, and
urban and metropolitan development.

President Ruto lauded Iran’s support in
health, terming it a critical step towards the realization of Kenya’s Universal
Health Coverage.
President Raisi also
applauded Kenya’s commitment to creating a friendly environment for foreign
businesses. He said more Iranian firms will establish operations in the
country, paving their way to accessing EAC, COMESA, and AfCFTA markets of more
than 1.4 billion people.
“The Kenya-Iran
relations can always be strengthened for our benefit,” he said during a media
briefing.
