Uganda and South Korea are exploring stronger cooperation in digital transformation, with discussions focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, ICT skills development, innovation and digital government services.

The Permanent Secretary at Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, held discussions with a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), led by Country Director Yongsu Yi, on opportunities for collaboration.

Dr. Zawedde called for closer cooperation to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem, build local ICT expertise and use AI to translate government information into local languages.

The discussions also explored integrating digital solutions into the Parish Development Model, expanding ICT training opportunities and ensuring future projects align with Uganda’s Digital Transformation Roadmap 2023–2028.

Both sides agreed to pursue further technical engagements to identify practical areas of cooperation.
