Semiconductor Technologies
Limited (STL) has hosted delegates from Satcom (Pty) Ltd, SANCOM Ltd. and
CISMIC at its facilities in Kenya to explore partnerships aimed at
strengthening local semiconductor design and manufacturing capabilities.
The visit provided an
opportunity for the delegates to examine STL’s fabrication, analytical and
quality assurance capabilities, as the company highlighted progress at its
fabrication facility and the talent driving its development.
Discussions focused on
strengthening collaboration and building a roadmap toward local design and
manufacturing capabilities. The participants explored ways to develop
engineering skills, strengthen quality systems, enable knowledge transfer and
use partnerships to bring relevant technologies closer to home.
“Africa’s semiconductor
future will be built on partnerships, and it is starting here in Kenya,” STL
said.
The company said building a
strong technology ecosystem requires investment in talent and collaboration
among universities, industry and policymakers.
“Capability grows where
talent is invested,” STL said, adding that cooperation across these sectors is
what turns a promising ecosystem into a strong one.
STL thanked the teams from
Satcom, SANCOM and CISMIC for the exchange of ideas and their confidence in
Kenya’s growing technology ecosystem, saying it looked forward to continuing
discussions and turning shared ambitions into practical next steps.
