The West African Science
Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) has hosted a
delegation from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space
(BMFTR) and the DLR Project Management Agency (DLR-PT) for an external financial
audit aimed at reinforcing transparency, financial accountability and
institutional governance.
The audit reflects WASCAL’s
commitment to accountability, which the institution says is essential for
strengthening stakeholder confidence, reinforcing institutional credibility and
improving readiness for future funding opportunities and strategic partnerships
globally.
“Accountability Today,
Greater Opportunities Tomorrow,” WASCAL said in a statement announcing the
engagement.
The institution, which
advances climate research and sustainable development in West Africa,
emphasised that accountability goes beyond a formal requirement and serves as a
foundation for lasting partnerships and impact.
The audit forms part of
efforts to maintain strong institutional governance and demonstrate responsible
financial management to stakeholders and partners.
WASCAL said these processes
help build confidence in its operations and support its continued work in
climate research and sustainable development across West Africa.
