Ethio telecom
has officially unveiled Zemen GEBEYA, a groundbreaking national digital
marketplace set to transform business transactions across Ethiopia. The
innovative platform, accessible through the telebirr SuperApp, creates a
unified ecosystem connecting merchants, farmers, artisans and SMEs with
consumers nationwide.
The launch
marks a significant milestone in Ethiopia's digital transformation journey,
offering businesses of all sizes the tools to thrive in the digital economy.
Zemen GEBEYA provides comprehensive solutions including digital storefronts,
secure payments via telebirr, and logistics integration - all designed to break
down traditional market barriers.

"This
platform represents more than technological advancement - it's an economic
equalizer," said an Ethio telecom executive
during the launch event. "By connecting rural producers with urban
consumers and enabling cross-border trade opportunities, we're building an
inclusive digital marketplace that leaves no Ethiopian behind."
The platform's
mini-app format within telebirr's 28 million-user ecosystem ensures immediate
scale, while its features address critical challenges in financial inclusion
and SME growth. Early adopters include agricultural cooperatives seeking direct
consumer access and artisans expanding beyond local markets.

Zemen GEBEYA
forms part of Ethiopia's broader digital economy strategy, complementing recent
investments in mobile money and 4G expansion. Ethio telecom is actively
onboarding logistics partners and business support organizations to strengthen
the platform's nationwide impact.
