Startups took
center stage during a special meeting hosted by the Ministry of Digital
Transition and Digitalization, at the Postel 2001 building in Plateau. The
event served as a precursor to the upcoming National Conference on Artificial
Intelligence (AI), scheduled for May 18, 2025, and highlighted the government's
commitment to fostering innovation in the tech sector.
Under the theme
"Special Artificial Intelligence," the gathering brought together
young entrepreneurs, AI experts, and ministry officials to discuss
opportunities and challenges in the field. The Minister of Digital Transition
and Digitalization, Kalil Konaté, noted the importance of regular dialogue
between policymakers and startups, recognizing their role as drivers of
creativity and technological advancement. He reiterated the government's
support for digital startups, citing existing legislative frameworks such as
Law No. 2023-901, enacted to promote their growth.

During the
interactive session, startups showcased their AI-driven solutions across
various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, finance, and
cybersecurity. The exchange of ideas and experiences highlighted the potential
of AI to address local challenges while contributing to economic
development.
Stéphane
Kounandi, Director of Innovation, Startups, and the Private Sector at the
ministry, introduced the National AI Hub initiative a key project aimed at
providing startups with access to advanced technological resources, including
AI infrastructure, cloud solutions, and technical support. The hub also seeks
to facilitate funding opportunities to help startups scale their innovations.
The event
underscored the collaborative spirit between the Ivorian government and the
startup ecosystem, setting the stage for deeper engagement at the forthcoming
National AI Conference.
