A high-level delegation from MTN Group, led by Chairman Mcebisi Hubert Jonas and Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita, has paid a courtesy visit to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House in Kampala. The meeting, held alongside the MTN Chairpersons' Forum hosted in Uganda, underscored the telecom giant's long-term commitment to the country and explored opportunities for deeper economic collaboration.

President Museveni welcomed MTN's ongoing investments and stressed the importance of focusing on sectors that drive employment and economic expansion. He highlighted four key areas for wealth and job creation: commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and information and communications technology (ICT). The President also encouraged MTN to consider cross-border investments as a way to enhance regional integration and intra-African trade.

Mcebisi Jonas expressed gratitude for the Ugandan government's sustained support, noting the strong regulatory collaboration that has enabled MTN's operations in the country. He reaffirmed the company's long-term presence in Uganda and its interest in fostering stronger trade links between Uganda and South Africa. He also pointed to MTN's potential to facilitate market access for Ugandan businesses in South Africa, signaling opportunities for broader economic cooperation.

The discussions reinforced MTN's role as a key partner in Uganda's digital transformation and economic development. With a shared focus on job creation, regional trade, and ICT growth, the meeting highlighted the potential for further collaboration between the private sector and government in driving sustainable progress.
