Cameroon's
telecommunications company, Camtel has hosted an official Chadian delegation
led by Dr. Boukar Michel, Minister of Telecommunications, Digital Economy and
Digitalization, in a move to enhance digital connectivity between the two
neighboring nations. The bilateral discussions, opened by Cameroon's Minister
of Posts and Telecommunications Minette Libom Li Likeng, focused on critical
infrastructure improvements and service enhancements.

Key agenda
items included revising cross-border internet service tariffs, optimizing the
existing Mbere-Nana interconnection link, and addressing financial settlements
between Camtel and Chad's Sotel-Tchad. Both parties emphasized the urgent need
to secure the optical fiber network connecting their countries while exploring
new infrastructure deployments to create more robust digital links.
The meeting
forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation in the
digital sector between Cameroon and Chad. Officials from both nations expressed
commitment to developing sustainable, mutually beneficial solutions that will
drive economic growth and improve regional connectivity.

This exchange
follows a series of technical discussions between the countries'
telecommunications operators and regulators. The outcomes are expected to lead
to tangible improvements in internet affordability, network reliability, and
digital service quality for users on both sides of the border.
The
collaboration signals a shared vision for digital transformation in Central
Africa, with Cameroon and Chad positioning themselves as key players in
regional connectivity initiatives. The talks concluded with plans for continued
technical working groups to implement the agreed-upon measures in the coming
months.
