Nigeria launches digital industrial park to boost tech innovation in Ogun State

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially commissioned its state-of-the-art Digital Industrial Park (DIP) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria's digital transformation agenda. The facility was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani alongside key government officials and traditional leaders.
The
high-profile event was attended by Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun,
Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, NCC Executive Vice Chairman Dr.
Aminu Maida, National Assembly committee chairs on ICT, and the Alake of
Egbaland, Oba Micheal Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
"This
facility represents our commitment to bridging the digital divide and creating
opportunities for Nigerian youth to lead in the global tech economy," stated Dr. Tijani during the commissioning ceremony. The park is
designed to serve as an incubation center for homegrown technological solutions
while fostering stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
Governor
Abiodun highlighted the park's alignment with Ogun State's economic development
plans, noting that "this initiative will position our state as a leader
in Nigeria's digital revolution while creating employment opportunities for our
tech-savvy youth population."
Dr. Maida of
the NCC emphasized the facility's role in achieving the Commission's mandate of
promoting universal access to digital resources. "Beyond infrastructure
deployment, we're investing in human capital development to ensure Nigerians
can fully participate in the digital economy," he explained.
The park's
establishment comes as Nigeria intensifies efforts to develop local tech talent
capable of competing globally. With specialized training programs, innovation
labs, and collaboration spaces, the facility is expected to nurture the next
generation of Nigerian tech entrepreneurs and digital professionals.
