The Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA) has officially received its Data Controller’s License from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), marking a significant milestone in the country’s data protection landscape. The handover took place at the Harare International Conference Centre and included several other organizations.
The issuance of the Data Controller’s License formalizes ZINGSA’s role in data governance and emphasizes the legal requirement for organizations to register as Data Controllers before processing personal data. Compliance with this regulation demonstrates commitment to privacy, accountability, and adherence to the Cyber and Data Protection Act, reinforcing public trust in the handling of personal information.
As Zimbabwe continues to advance its digital transformation, data protection has become increasingly critical for ethical and responsible operations. The collaboration between POTRAZ, ZINGSA, and other compliant organizations is seen as a positive step toward fostering a culture of compliance and safeguarding personal data across the country.
Kudos were extended to POTRAZ, ZINGSA, and participating organizations for their efforts in promoting regulatory adherence and strengthening the nation’s data protection framework.
