AXIAN Telecom and Huawei have signed a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Shanghai aimed at strengthening collaboration to support Africa’s digital transformation and accelerate the growth of inclusive and sustainable digital economies across the continent.

The agreement is expected to deepen cooperation between the two companies across three core areas: digital connectivity, digital finance and digital operations. Under the MoU, AXIAN Telecom and Huawei will work together to modernise network infrastructure, expand digital services and introduce next-generation technologies to improve affordability, resilience and service quality in AXIAN Telecom’s markets.

The partnership will prioritise the deployment of scalable and future-ready technologies, including 5G, cloud-based networks, artificial intelligence-driven operations and digital platforms. These solutions are expected to support AXIAN Telecom in delivering reliable, secure and high-performance services tailored to the evolving needs of consumers, businesses and public sector institutions.

Speaking on the partnership, AXIAN Telecom Chief Executive Officer Hassan Jaber said the agreement aligns with the company’s long-term commitment to responsible growth and local empowerment. He noted that closer collaboration with Huawei would strengthen AXIAN Telecom’s capacity to deliver high-quality digital services while helping to build the digital capabilities required for Africa to compete effectively in the global economy.

Gary Lu, President of Huawei Southern Africa Region Carrier Business, said Huawei was pleased to deepen its strategic relationship with AXIAN Telecom. He said the partnership would enable the introduction of advanced technologies and innovation into local markets, supporting sustainable development, enhanced connectivity and improved digital experiences across Africa.

The MoU further positions AXIAN Telecom as a long-term partner to governments, enterprises and communities, reinforcing its role in driving digital inclusion, economic development and the creation of future-ready digital ecosystems across the continent.
