Kenya’s State Department of ICT and Digital Economy meets Meta to boost government transparency

Kenya’s
Principal Secretary for the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, John
Kipchumba Tanui has met with representatives from Meta, including Public Policy
Director Mercy Ndegwa and Public Policy Lead Sarah Muyonga, alongside the
Pathways Technologies Limited team, to discuss leveraging emerging technologies
for greater government transparency and accountability.
The
discussions centered on improving access to public data, providing real-time
updates on government projects, simplifying information on budgets and
procurement, and using digital tools to strengthen citizen engagement in public
service delivery.

Tanui described the meeting as an encouraging step forward in advancing Kenya’s
digital transformation agenda, highlighting the government’s commitment to
adopting innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and public participation.
