Zimbabwe’s
Minister of ICTPCS and MP for Chikomba West, Tatenda Mavetera has held a
high-level bilateral meeting with Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of
State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work
Applications, on the sidelines of the recently concluded World Government
Summit.

The
discussions focused on leveraging the UAE’s expertise as a global leader in AI
to support Zimbabwe’s forthcoming National AI Strategy, set to be unveiled next
month. Key areas of collaboration include refining Zimbabwe’s AI framework with
guidance on practical regulatory standards and adopting a “Mobile-First”
AI-powered government model to enhance citizen access to services.

The
meeting also highlighted plans to establish innovation hubs for AI applications
in agriculture, mining, and healthcare, signaling Zimbabwe’s ambition to
integrate AI into national infrastructure and position itself as a regional hub
for artificial intelligence and digital excellence.
