Somalia’s
digital development agenda took center stage as the first Digital Public
Infrastructure (DPI 2026) Conference commenced, bringing together policymakers,
regulators, and industry stakeholders to discuss the role of digital systems in
national transformation.
The
opening day of the conference featured discussions on how Digital Public
Infrastructure (DPI) can accelerate Somalia’s digital transformation, support
the growth of the digital economy, and enhance coordination across
institutions.

Participants
explored the importance of building foundational digital systems capable of
improving service delivery, enabling innovation, and fostering inclusive
economic participation. The conversations emphasized the need for aligned
national strategies, institutional collaboration, and sustainable digital
governance frameworks.
Officials
underscored that DPI is increasingly viewed as a critical enabler of modern
public services, economic competitiveness, and regulatory effectiveness. The
conference also highlighted the significance of coordinated engagement among
government agencies, regulators, and private sector actors to ensure the
successful implementation of digital initiatives.

The
DPI 2026 Conference is expected to continue with further sessions examining
