Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, H.E. Wamkele Mene has participated in a fireside chat at the Accra Reset – Addis Reckoning high-level event, where he emphasized the role of AfCFTA in advancing Africa’s vision for sovereignty, resilience, and inclusive growth.

The Accra Reset, spearheaded by H.E. John Mahama, President of Ghana, aims to rethink global governance for health and development in the post-SDG era, with a particular focus on African control over health technologies, digital systems, and financing.

During the discussion, Mene highlighted practical tools developed under AfCFTA, including the AfCFTA Trade Hub, digital payment systems, and the AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade.

He stressed that African leaders define the vision, while the Secretariat’s role is to design and implement the tools necessary to achieve it, advocating for a fully integrated and interoperable African digital economy.
