Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindy, has received former ICT Minister Amr Talaat during an official handover ceremony at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), underscoring continuity in the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The meeting focused on the Ministry’s major initiatives, with both leaders emphasising the importance of sustaining the implementation of the Digital Egypt strategy. Discussions covered ongoing projects across the strategy’s pillars, maintaining the ICT sector’s strong growth trajectory, and attracting further investments into the sector.

Hindy expressed appreciation for Talaat’s leadership during his nearly seven-and-a-half-year tenure, noting that the ICT sector recorded significant progress during that period. He stated that the next phase would prioritise completing ongoing projects while building on past achievements, reinforcing the sector’s position as a key driver of economic growth and national development.

According to Hindy, the Ministry’s institutional framework and collaborative work culture remain critical to delivering priority projects efficiently and sustainably. He added that strengthening Egypt’s regional and global competitiveness in information and communications technology would remain a central objective.

Talaat, for his part, expressed confidence in Hindy’s leadership and the Ministry’s direction. He described the sector’s achievements as the outcome of teamwork grounded in trust, cooperation, and shared institutional goals. The former Minister said he leaves office with pride in the progress made and optimism about the sector’s future trajectory.

The ceremony was attended by senior MCIT officials, ICT leaders, and Ministry staff. Talaat was welcomed at the Ministry’s headquarters by Hindy and received a guard of honour from officials and employees, reflecting recognition of his tenure and contributions to Egypt’s ICT development.
