The Association of
Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has held a strategic engagement
with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), aimed at strengthening
collaboration on key priorities shaping Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
The meeting, which took
place at the NCC headquarters in Abuja was led by ATCON President Mr. Tony
Izuagbe Emoekpere and the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida.

The engagement served as a
high-level platform for dialogue between the industry body and the regulator,
with discussions centered on regulatory, operational, and strategic issues
affecting the telecommunications landscape.
Both parties underscored the
importance of sustained institutional engagement, highlighting the need for
closer cooperation in areas including infrastructure protection, corporate
governance compliance, service quality improvements, and long-term sector sustainability.
The discussions also
reflected broader concerns within the industry regarding network resilience,
investment stability, and consumer experience, as Nigeria continues to advance
its digital transformation agenda.

ATCON reaffirmed its
commitment to working closely with the Commission to promote a
telecommunications ecosystem that is resilient, investor-friendly, and aligned
with national digital growth objectives.
Industry analysts note that
regulator–industry engagements of this nature are critical for addressing
structural challenges, aligning policy direction, and ensuring that sector
growth remains sustainable amid evolving technological and market dynamics.
