The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin has called on the need for collaboration in advancing global connectivity at the Digital LatAm Summit in Madrid. Reflecting on the historical convergence of telegraphy and radio in 1932 that led to the formation of the ITU, she noted that technological transformation often outpaces existing governance systems, underscoring the need for cooperative approaches today.

During the summit, Secretary-General Bogdan-Martin highlighted Latin America’s leadership in areas such as school connectivity and regional AI innovation, illustrating how collective effort can drive inclusive and resilient digital development. She also engaged with academic members, including COIT AEIT and IE University, to discuss strategies for preparing the next generation of ICT experts.

She expressed enthusiasm for the capstone projects being undertaken by students in partnership with ITU, describing the experience as energizing and promising for the future of global telecommunications.
