Bank
of Kigali Plc has launched its BK Open API at the Inclusive FinTech Forum in
Kigali, Rwanda, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between banks
and technology innovators in the financial services sector.
The
launch was discussed during a panel featuring the bank’s Chief Executive
Officer, Diane Karusisi, Chief Digital and Retail Officer Desire Rumanyika, and
Tafara Makaza, Chief Product Officer at Fixa.
Speakers
highlighted how partnerships between traditional financial institutions and
fintech innovators are helping reshape the future of financial services by
enabling more integrated and customer-focused solutions.

According
to the bank, the BK Open API will serve as a secure bridge between its systems
and third-party platforms, allowing the exchange of financial data and services
in a controlled environment.
Through
the platform, developers, fintech companies and businesses will be able to
integrate banking services directly into their existing applications and
digital platforms, making it easier to build new financial products and
services.
Bank
officials said the initiative represents a step toward creating a more
connected financial ecosystem in which innovation can take place across the
broader financial services industry.
