Ugandan Telecom Regulator visits Ghana to study numbering and portability practices

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has welcomed Ms. Priscilla Ritah Namugerwa, Senior Officer at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), for a five-day benchmark visit to Ghana. The visit aims to provide Ms. Namugerwa with practical insights into Ghana’s regulatory framework on Numbering Resource Management and Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

Ms. Namugerwa was received by Mrs. Etta Mosore, Deputy Director General in charge of Managerial Operations, alongside Deputy Directors from the Regulatory Administration and Corporate Affairs Divisions. During the welcome, Mrs. Mosore highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange among African regulatory institutions to strengthen telecom governance and foster innovation. She also briefed the visitor on upcoming exercises, including Ghana’s Number Registration Exercise, and presented souvenirs as a gesture of partnership.

Ms. Namugerwa expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to learn from Ghana’s experience and emphasized her goal of gaining deeper insights to support regulatory practices in Uganda. Over the five-day visit, she will engage with NCA experts on systems, processes, and regulatory approaches related to numbering resources and mobile number portability.

The visit reflects the NCA’s ongoing efforts to share best practices and enhance collaboration with regulatory bodies across Africa.
