Visa
has strengthened its engagement with clients, partners, and government
stakeholders in Angola and Uganda as part of ongoing efforts to support the
growth of digital payments and commerce across the region.
The
discussions were led by Michael Berner, Group Country Manager for Southern and
Eastern Africa at Visa, who met with key stakeholders to examine trends shaping
the digital payments landscape and opportunities to accelerate adoption in the
two markets.

During
the visit to Angola, the delegation also included Tareq Muhmood, Regional
President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) at
Visa. Conversations focused on the future of digital commerce in the region and
strategies to expand merchant acceptance, support small and medium-sized
enterprises with affordable digital payment solutions, and enable digitized
government services.
Stakeholders
also explored ways to strengthen interoperability across payment systems while
ensuring that innovation in digital payments remains inclusive, trusted, and
sustainable.

Visa
said collaboration between policymakers and the private sector will be key to
advancing digital payments as a driver of financial inclusion, operational
efficiency, and long-term economic growth in the region.
