The
Rwanda Space Agency, in collaboration with the Local Administrative Entities
Development Agency and Agence Française de Développement, has concluded a
three-day workshop focused on validating the feasibility study for a project
aimed at strengthening climate resilience in Rwanda’s districts through the use
of satellite and geospatial data.

The
workshop brought together government agencies, development partners, and
technical stakeholders to review findings and finalize plans for the project,
which is designed to support local-level decision-making using Earth
observation data.
The
initiative seeks to deploy geospatial data at the district level to improve
disaster management, environmental monitoring, and climate adaptation
strategies across Rwanda. Officials noted that the project will help local
authorities better understand environmental risks and strengthen preparedness
for climate-related challenges.

Participants
emphasized that the integration of satellite data into local planning processes
will play an important role in improving resilience and supporting sustainable
development efforts across the country.
