The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST Namibia), in collaboration with the Namibia Statistics Agency, has convened a three-day technical workshop, focused on reviewing and adopting priority science, technology, and innovation (STI) indicators.

The workshop brought together representatives from higher education, government, the business sector, and other stakeholders to evaluate proposed indicators and enhance alignment for both national adoption and international comparability. Participants engaged in practical discussions on building a coherent, credible, and nationally owned STI statistical system.

During the event, NCRST presented the STI Indicator Framework Manual and accompanying survey tools, which guided deliberations on indicator application. AUDA-NEPAD participated virtually, providing technical input on standards, while the NSA team offered methodological guidance on data quality, validation, integration with the national statistical system, and risk mitigation.

Officials described the workshop as a key step in strengthening Namibia’s STI monitoring and evaluation framework. NCRST expressed appreciation for the contributions of all partners, presenters, and participants, noting that such collaboration is vital for advancing the country’s research, science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.
