Ethiopia has hosted its Annual Safety, Health and Wellbeing Forum, bringing
together partners, contractors, and key stakeholders to reinforce its
commitment to safety across operations. The forum, led by members of the
company’s Executive Committee, focused on reviewing past performance and
setting priorities for the 2026/2027 financial year.
Participants
assessed the company’s safety, health and wellbeing performance over the
previous year and outlined strategies to strengthen standards across its
expanding operations. The event also featured the recognition of partner
organizations that have demonstrated excellence in safety practices,
contributing to the protection of employees, communities, and the environment.

Over
the past four years, Safaricom Ethiopia has deployed more than 3,500 telecom
sites nationwide, expanding connectivity while operating in challenging
environments. The company attributed these achievements to strong collaboration
among teams and partners, alongside a sustained emphasis on operational safety.
Speaking
on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief External Affairs Officer
Andualem Admassie emphasized that safety remains a core value embedded in the
company’s operations. He highlighted the importance of leadership,
collaboration, and a proactive safety culture, underscoring the principle that
all work must be carried out safely.

Ethiopia said it will continue investing in initiatives that support the
physical and mental wellbeing of its workforce, noting that employee health and
safety are critical to long-term sustainability.
