The
Rwanda ICT Chamber and the Rwanda FinTech Association have convened a strategic
meeting with telecom operators to enhance collaboration aimed at advancing the
country’s fintech ecosystem.

The
engagement brought together industry stakeholders to explore ways of
strengthening partnerships between fintech players and telecommunications
providers, both of which are seen as critical to expanding digital financial
services and driving financial inclusion.
Key
discussions focused on improving the operating environment for fintech
services, with particular attention to USSD and SMS channels, as well as
broader issues of service accessibility, transparency and sustainability.
Stakeholders emphasized the importance of developing frameworks that support
innovation while ensuring mutual value for all parties involved.

Telecom
operators including MTN and Airtel participated in the dialogue alongside other
industry players, highlighting the central role of connectivity providers in
enabling fintech growth.
Participants
reaffirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and coordinated action to
build a more inclusive and resilient digital economy in Rwanda.
