Ericsson
has signed a strategic agreement with Ethio Telecom to expand and modernize
1,500 mobile sites across Ethiopia, aiming to improve network coverage,
capacity, and service quality nationwide.
The
partnership focuses on upgrading existing 3G sites to 4G, enhancing
connectivity in both urban and rural areas to support digital inclusion and
unlock new economic and social opportunities.
The
initiative forms part of Ethio Telecom’s Next Horizon strategy and contributes
to the government’s “Digital Ethiopia 2030” vision.
With
a 132-year history of collaboration in the country, Ericsson’s support
underscores its commitment to accelerating Ethiopia’s digital transformation
while strengthening the nation’s telecommunications infrastructure.
