A high-level Rwandan delegation led by former President of AfDB, Donald Kaberuka has visited Guinea to explore strategic cooperation opportunities under the Simandou 2040 development programme.

The mission, which took place from April 27 to 30, 2026, was received by the Minister of Planning, International Cooperation and Development, Ismaël Nabé, before engaging with Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah on key areas of economic transformation.

Discussions focused on infrastructure financing, banking sector structuring, and support for large-scale development initiatives aimed at accelerating Guinea’s long-term economic agenda.

Financial institutions including Bank of Kigali and Bridge Bank Group expressed interest in supporting Guinea’s development priorities, particularly in mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

The Guinean government reaffirmed that the Simandou 2040 programme remains central to its strategy for economic diversification and structural transformation, with expectations that elements of the emerging partnership could begin materialising from 2027.
