Eswatini
has hosted the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Lai Ching-te,
during a visit to the Royal Science and Technology Park in Nokwane, where he
was briefed on major infrastructure and investment projects.
The
visit included an inspection of the upcoming Taiwan Industrial and Innovation
Park, as well as the Strategic Oil Reserve initiative, both of which are
positioned as key developments aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s economic and
energy sectors.

Savannah
Maziya, Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, and Manqoba
Khumalo participated in the engagements, which highlighted ongoing bilateral
cooperation between Eswatini and Taiwan.
Officials
said the Strategic Oil Reserve project is expected to enhance national energy
security while incorporating sustainability measures, including the integration
of locally produced bioethanol. The Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park is
intended to support industrialisation, diversify the economy, and create
employment opportunities, with construction expected to commence in the near
future.

Government
representatives described the projects as part of a broader development agenda
aimed at positioning Eswatini as a hub for investment, innovation, and
industrial growth. The visit was also framed as a demonstration of strengthened
international cooperation and long-standing bilateral relations between the two
countries.
