Morocco
is reinforcing its commitment to transparent and participatory governance
following a high-level meeting between Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of
Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Aidan Eyakuze, Director
General of the Open Government Partnership.
The
meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, focused on strengthening
collaboration between Morocco and international institutions promoting open
governance principles, including transparency, accountability, and citizen
participation.
Discussions
also formed part of preparations for the African Open Government Conference
2026, scheduled to take place from May 5 to 7 in Rabat under the theme “Towards
an Open Africa.”
The
conference is expected to convene policymakers, civil society actors, and
development partners from across the continent to explore reforms aimed at
modernizing governance systems and enhancing public sector accountability.
Officials
say the engagement reflects a broader continental push to redesign governance
frameworks that enable more inclusive decision-making processes and strengthen
citizen involvement in shaping and evaluating public policies.
