Sonatel has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Global Network Operations Center (GNOC), highlighting a decade of network supervision, digital innovation and service delivery across Africa.

Established in 2016 and operating between Dakar, Senegal, and Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, the GNOC currently oversees network operations across 12 countries and supports services for more than 100 million customers.

According to the company, the center plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and availability of voice, internet, streaming and mobile financial services across its markets.

Over the past decade, the GNOC has operated around the clock to monitor network performance and maintain service continuity, while also advancing the digitization and automation of operational processes.

Sonatel stated that the integration of Big Data and artificial intelligence technologies has enabled the center to improve predictive monitoring capabilities and anticipate potential network incidents before they affect customers.

The telecommunications group also noted that the GNOC has contributed to job creation in Senegal, with 230 skilled positions established since its launch.

Sonatel acknowledged the support of strategic partners Orange and Huawei in the development and expansion of the center, alongside the contributions of technical teams and staff involved in its operations.

The company said it is now looking toward future developments including the deployment of 5G technologies and broader adoption of artificial intelligence to further strengthen network performance and digital services across the region.
