GSMA, in collaboration with the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, has organised a workshop on spectrum auction design and pricing as part of activities marking the Chamber’s 15th anniversary celebrations in Ghana.

The workshop brought together senior representatives from the Ministry of Communications, the National Communications Authority, the Parliamentary Select Committee on ICT, mobile network operators, the Ghana Revenue Authority and other industry stakeholders.

Discussions focused on approaches to spectrum auction design and pricing intended to support Ghana’s upcoming 5G spectrum auction and broader efforts to strengthen investment, innovation and next-generation connectivity

The sessions were led by Philippe Goabga, Senior Policy Manager, West Africa, GSMA  and Kenechi Okeleke, Senior Director, Regional, Social Policy Research at GSMA.

According to organisers, the engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between policymakers, regulators and private sector stakeholders in developing sustainable spectrum policy frameworks capable of accelerating digital transformation and expanding inclusive connectivity.

The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to support Ghana’s digital economy agenda and prepare the country for expanded 5G deployment and advanced telecommunications services.
