Ghana has intensified
efforts to consolidate its climate action agenda with the validation of its
2025 updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), as stakeholders
convened at a national workshop to review and strengthen the framework guiding
the country’s climate and development priorities.
The workshop brought
together government officials, development partners, and sector actors to
assess Ghana’s revised commitments under the updated NDC, which outlines the
country’s strategic approach to climate action, energy transition, and
sustainable economic transformation.
Speaking during the opening
session, Chief Director of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and
Innovation, Suweibatu Adams, described the 2025 NDC as a comprehensive national
blueprint aimed at driving green jobs, resilient infrastructure development,
and sustainable growth.
She emphasized that while
the updated framework reflects strong national ambition, its success will
depend on effective implementation supported by strong partnerships, innovative
financing mechanisms, and coordinated action across all sectors.
According to her,
translating climate commitments into tangible outcomes requires sustained
collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and the
private sector to ensure that policy objectives are fully realised.
The validation process forms
part of Ghana’s broader efforts to align its development agenda with global
climate goals while strengthening resilience against environmental and economic
shocks.
