Accra Technical University has signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding with private sector and institutional partners aimed at strengthening practical education, skills development, and employment opportunities for students.

The agreements were signed with Choice International Forwarding Company Limited, Kuri Motors, the National Council for Children and Youth Development (NaCCYD), and Unidor Limited as part of the university’s broader strategy to deepen collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions.

Vice-Chancellor Amevi Acakpovi said the partnerships are intended to support internships, industrial attachment programmes, research collaboration, and career pathways that connect students more directly to the labour market.

According to the university, the collaborations form part of ongoing efforts to ensure that teaching and learning remain aligned with industry demands, innovation trends, and societal development priorities.

The university noted that it has continued to expand partnerships with industry, government agencies, and international institutions in recognition of the growing importance of collaborative approaches in higher education and workforce development.

ATU stated that the partnerships also support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, by helping students acquire practical skills and improve employability.

The initiative further aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which promotes skills development, innovation, industrial growth, and sustainable development as key pillars for Africa’s transformation.

University officials indicated that the institution remains committed to positioning itself as a higher education institution focused on practical impact, innovation, and industry-responsive learning.
