Ethiopost has held
high-level discussions with senior executives from La Poste Groupe aimed at
strengthening cooperation between the Ethiopian and French postal institutions.
The discussions took place
at the Ethiopost headquarters and involved a delegation led by Ethiopost Chief
Executive Officer Dagmawi Hailiye alongside the company’s management team.
According to Ethiopost, the
meeting is expected to deepen the long-standing collaboration between the two
organizations, which has been supported through technical assistance from the
Agence Française de Développement since 2022.
The partnership has focused
on supporting Ethiopost’s modernization agenda, including efforts to improve
service delivery, expand financial inclusion and strengthen operational
capacity.
Ethiopost said its recent
revenue growth under Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda, combined with service
modernization initiatives, brand revitalization and partnerships with
technology startups, has contributed to the success of the collaboration.
The two institutions are now
expected to work together on the formulation and implementation of Ethiopost’s
upcoming strategic plan while promoting continued knowledge exchange between
both sides.
The partnership also
reflects a longstanding historical relationship between Ethiopia and France
dating back to 1894, when Emperor Menelik II commissioned the French government
to design Ethiopia’s first postage stamps and support the establishment of the
country’s early postal services.
