Broadband Systems Corporation has announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oman Data Park to jointly invest in the development of an AI-ready Tier III data centre in Rwanda, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure.

The agreement, led by Broadband Systems Corporation in partnership with Oman Data Park, is aimed at accelerating the deployment of advanced, secure, and scalable data centre capacity to support emerging artificial intelligence and cloud computing demands in the region.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, including ministers Paula Ingabire and Yves Iradukunda, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Information Society Authority, Antoine Sebera.

According to the partners, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing Rwanda’s digital transformation agenda through the development of resilient and future-ready infrastructure. The planned Tier III facility is expected to enhance data sovereignty, improve service reliability, and support innovation across key sectors of the digital economy.

Stakeholders involved in the initiative noted that the project aligns with broader national and regional priorities to expand secure digital infrastructure, strengthen data resilience, and position Rwanda as a competitive hub for technology and innovation in Africa.

The partnership is also expected to catalyse further investment in cloud services, artificial intelligence applications, and digital public infrastructure across the East African region.
