The
Africa Business Forum 2026 has opened in Tallinn, bringing together African and
Estonian leaders to deepen cooperation in digital transformation, trade, and
innovation, with a strong focus on building long-term strategic partnerships
between the two regions.
The
forum was officially opened by Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Digital Transition
and Technological Innovation, Djibril Ouattara, who highlighted Estonia’s
globally recognized digital governance model as a reference point for Côte
d’Ivoire’s own digital agenda. He noted that Estonia’s approach, which places
digital systems at the center of citizen services, aligns closely with Côte
d’Ivoire’s ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing public service delivery and
strengthening technological infrastructure.

Estonian
officials reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation with African
countries. Speaking at the seminar, Estonian Foreign Ministry Secretary General
Jonatan Vseviov stated that Africa is not only viewed as a continent of
opportunity but as a strategic partner in shaping future global systems. He
emphasized Estonia’s ambition to actively contribute to Africa’s development
through trade, innovation partnerships, and sustained institutional
collaboration.
Estonia’s
diplomatic engagement in Africa was further underscored by Daniel Erik Schaer,
who described the forum as part of a growing effort to advance Africa–Estonia
relations. He noted that discussions in Tallinn are helping to “write the next
chapter” of bilateral cooperation, particularly in digital economy development
and knowledge exchange.

The
program also featured discussions led by innovation and leadership experts,
including Aune Aunapuu and Gomolemo Lolo Madikgetla, who shared perspectives on
women’s leadership in driving digital and institutional transformation.
The
Africa Business Forum 2026 continues to position itself as a key platform for
strengthening Africa–Europe collaboration, with digital innovation emerging as
a central pillar for future economic growth and governance reform.
