Zamtel
has reiterated its commitment to advancing Zambia’s digital transformation
agenda following its participation in the official opening of the Zambia Mobile
Congress 2026 held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
The
event, which is taking place under the theme “Advancing All Intelligence in
Zambia,” brought together key stakeholders from government, industry and the
technology sector to discuss strategies for accelerating digital development
and strengthening the country’s ICT ecosystem.

The
official opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Dr. W.K. Mutale
Nalumango, who underscored the importance of digital innovation in driving
national development. The programme also featured the signing of a strategic
partnership between SMART Zambia and Huawei aimed at deploying cloud and
artificial intelligence infrastructure within the country to support digital
services and innovation.
The
Zamtel participated in the congress as a key industry stakeholder, with its
chief executive officer leading the company’s delegation to the opening
session.

The
company said the discussions at the congress align with its strategic
priorities of expanding network connectivity and supporting inclusive access to
digital services across Zambia. Zamtel noted that it remains committed to
providing reliable telecommunications infrastructure that enables youth,
businesses and communities to participate in the digital economy.
The
congress is expected to contribute to ongoing national efforts aimed at
positioning Zambia as an “intelligent nation” by 2030 through increased
investment in digital infrastructure, innovation and public-private
collaboration within the technology sector.
