Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, H.E. William Kabogo, has underscored the importance of integrating digital accessibility into all stages of policy development, infrastructure deployment, product design and service delivery.

He made the remarks while officially opening the inAble Inclusive Africa Conference 2026, a platform dedicated to advancing digital accessibility and inclusion across the continent.

Kabogo said Kenya’s ongoing digital transformation agenda is anchored on ensuring that no citizen is left behind, particularly persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups who require barrier-free access to digital services.

He highlighted progress made under the Digital Superhighway Programme, which is expanding connectivity to schools, hospitals, government institutions and communities across the country.

According to him, investments in digital infrastructure, innovation hubs and the expansion of e-government services are creating opportunities for citizens to participate more actively in the digital economy.

The Cabinet Secretary also commended collaboration between government agencies, standards bodies and accessibility advocates in developing Kenya’s national standard for the accessibility of ICT products and services, describing it as a significant step toward aligning with international best practices.

He emphasized that accessibility remains a central pillar of Kenya’s digital development strategy, particularly in ensuring that learners and citizens with disabilities can access education, information and public services without barriers.

The conference brings together stakeholders from government, industry and civil society to advance inclusive digital solutions and strengthen accessibility frameworks across Africa.
