Senegal reflects on digital transformation achievements under outgoing Minister Alioune Sall

Senegal’s Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs has highlighted key achievements recorded during the tenure of outgoing Minister Alioune Sall, citing significant progress in the country’s digital transformation, connectivity and innovation agenda.

In a statement reflecting on his time in office, the Ministry noted that Sall’s leadership was guided by a vision of building a more connected, sovereign and innovative Senegal focused on meeting the needs of citizens and strengthening the country’s digital future.

Among the major initiatives implemented during his tenure were the digitalization of public services, the operationalization of the Startup Act, and the advancement of the Digital Technologies Park project. The Ministry also pointed to the launch of universal connectivity initiatives aimed at expanding access to digital services across the country.

Other notable achievements included the implementation of the Senegal Digital Factory Programme, the establishment of the Senegalese media declaration platform, support provided through the Press Development and Support Fund (FADP), and increased investments in strategic digital infrastructure.

The Ministry further highlighted efforts to modernize the postal sector and adapt its operations to support the growth of e-commerce and the digital economy.

Officials stated that the reforms and projects undertaken during Sall’s tenure have contributed to modernizing public administration, strengthening digital inclusion and accelerating Senegal’s broader socio-economic transformation.

The Ministry expressed appreciation for his leadership and contribution to the development of the communications, telecommunications and digital sectors, describing his tenure as a period of significant progress in Senegal’s digital transformation journey.
